Ramen Kit Contents

The June ramen kit features two standout selections: shoyu tonkotsu ramen from Marumiya in Wakayama Prefecture, and tantanmen from Ezawa in Chiba Prefecture.

MARUMIYA Shoyu Tonkotsu Ramen

Marumiya, founded in 1949, is a beloved local ramen shop that originated in a lively area near a streetcar depot, where workers and residents would gather. Over time, it grew to represent Wakayama’s traditional ramen culture. Their signature soup is a rich soy sauce-based tonkotsu broth that stands out with its bold soy flavor. The deep, savory taste is followed by a crisp finish, offering the perfect harmony of pork bone richness and soy sauce sharpness.
This flavorful soup is paired with straight, thin noodles that complement its intensity. Marumiya's ramen embodies the unique identity of Wakayama ramen, a distinct regional style. Enjoy this iconic bowl with your favorite toppings.

EZAWA Tantanmen

The other offering comes from Ezawa, the original creator of Katsuura-style tantanmen, which helped popularize the dish in the coastal city of Katsuura, Chiba Prefecture. Located along the Pacific Ocean, Katsuura has developed its own distinct noodle culture and is now known nationwide as a battleground for tantanmen.
Founded in 1954, Ezawa is known for its bright red soup, covered with chili oil. Despite its appearance, the soup is soy-based, light, and mild in flavor—each sip packed with umami. The thin noodles are easy to eat and capture the chili oil well, giving you a direct hit of spiciness with every bite.

Now, you can enjoy the original taste of Katsuura tantanmen, loved by ramen fans from across Japan, right in your own home.
